FAQ

What is a LayerZero Endpoint?

A LayerZero Endpoint is an immutable smart contract deployed on every chain that LayerZero supports. It is the single interface applications use to send and receive messages across chains. Every OFT transfer, cross-chain call, and message routes through an Endpoint on the source chain and another on the destination chain.

How many chains have a LayerZero Endpoint?

Endpoints are live on 170+ chains, spanning EVM and non-EVM environments, including Ethereum, Solana, Aptos, TON, Stellar, and Tron. This is the broadest chain coverage of any cross-chain messaging system.

Are LayerZero Endpoints immutable?

Yes. Endpoints are immutable and non-upgradeable. Once deployed, no third party (including LayerZero) can modify, pause, or upgrade them. Applications and asset issuers get permanent, dependency-free infrastructure they can defend to any regulator or auditor.

What is the difference between an Endpoint, a DVN, and an Executor?

The Endpoint is the smart contract applications interact with. A DVN (Decentralized Verifier Network) independently verifies that a message sent on the source chain actually happened. The Executor delivers the verified message on the destination chain. Applications (including asset issuers) choose which of 55+ DVN providers verify their messages and at what confirmation thresholds; the Endpoint enforces those settings on every transaction.

How do developers integrate with a LayerZero Endpoint?

Developers integrate the Endpoint's send and receive interface into their smart contracts, then configure their security stack — which DVNs to use, which Executor delivers messages, and how many confirmations are required. The same Endpoint interface works across all 170+ chains, so integrating one chain is functionally identical to integrating any other.
