LayerZero Brings Interop to TON

The Open Network (TON) is the web3 ecosystem for Telegram — one of the largest and fastest-growing applications globally. Over the past two years, TON’s integration with Telegram has fueled remarkable growth, reaching nearly 140 million users. With the capacity to onboard hundreds of millions more, TON stands as one of the most promising blockchain ecosystems for mass crypto adoption.

With the launch of LayerZero on TON, the blockchain is now connected with the rest of crypto including Ethereum, Base, Aptos, Solana, and many more.

Partners extending to TON include USDT, USDT0, Ethena, and Stargate.

TON Connects Telegram Users to the Rest of Crypto

By connecting TON to the rest of crypto, LayerZero ensures that TON is interoperable and deeply integrated into the broader crypto ecosystem, connecting assets, applications, and end users. “We believe this integration marks a significant step forward for TON when it comes to uniting ecosystems and bringing greater interoperability to the broader crypto ecosystem," said Max Pertsovskiy, Chief Operating Officer, TON Foundation. "By connecting TON to a wide variety of other chains, developers now have all the tools they need to build decentralized applications for a truly global audience.”

Strengthening TON’s Ecosystem with Key Assets

LayerZero’s integration directly enables leading assets and ecosystems to extend to TON, connecting liquidity for both users and developers.

  • USDT Connectivity: LayerZero is being used by the consortium USDT0 to premiere its new product, the legacy mesh, which connects USDT deployments with USDT0 between TON, Tron, Ethereum, Celo, and Arbitrum.
  • Ethena Expansion: The third-largest stablecoin, USDe ($5B market cap), is now available on TON via the OFT Standard. Users can transfer USDe from 12 LayerZero-connected chains to TON, paying only the gas fee on the source chain.
  • Transfers via Stargate: Users can move these assets to and from TON using Stargate ensuring a seamless and cost-efficient cross-chain experience.

Developer Tooling

LayerZero’s development on TON enables seamless connectivity to blockchains such as Solana, Base, Aptos, and Tron, to start. It also includes easy-to-use development tools that will enable the creation of many more applications.

  • Endpoints: Enable smart contracts on TON to communicate with contracts across LayerZero-connected chains.
  • FunC++: An enhanced programming language for TON that reduces compilation times, improving development efficiency. FunC++ is a universal base contract that enables contracts to better interoperate on TON.

These tools empower developers to innovate and create applications that leverage TON’s scalable infrastructure and LayerZero’s proven interop tools.

Conclusion

By linking TON to the rest of crypto, LayerZero connects TON’s scalability and consumer access with some of the largest applications in crypto.

In general, interop cements TON’s position as a gateway to blockchain adoption.
